CLN com 2,7 biliões de dólares para financiar fase decisiva
Os parceiros do Corredor Logístico do Norte já têm dinheiro para terminar o projecto. Trata-se de um montante que irá aumentar a capacidade da infra-estrutura para escoamento de 22 milhões de toneladas por ano.
O grupo de empresas do Corredor Logístico do Norte (CLN) assinou contratos de financiamento do projecto num valor de 2,7 biliões de dólares.
De acordo com a mineradora brasileira Vale, o Banco Japonês para a Cooperação Internacional desembolsou um bilião de dólares e os bancos Mitsui Banking Corporation, The Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd, Muzuho Bank Limited, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Nippon Life Insurance Company e Standard Chartered Bank garantem um empréstimo de um bilião de dólares.
Um outro grupo de bancos constituído pelo ABSA Bank Limited, Investec Bank of South África e pelo Expor Credit Insurance, este último na qualidade de segurado, vão garantir 400 milhões de dólares. Já os restantes 300 milhões de dólares serão desembolsados pelo Banco Africano de Desenvolvimento.
Trata-se de um empréstimo que será amortizado em 14 anos por recursos provenientes das receitas relacionadas com os serviços de transporte de carvão e de carga geral fornecidos pelo CLN.
Este empreendimento faz parte de um projecto mais ambicioso, avaliado em mais de cinco biliões de dólares, que compreende a construção de um porto de águas em Nacala ligado a uma linha férrea com cerca de 900 quilómetros, que passa pelo Malawi, destinada ao escoamento do carvão da província de Tete.
Carlos Mesquita, ministro dos Transportes e Comunicações, diz esperar que com esta iniciativa o Corredor conheça significativas melhorias e que a capacidade de movimentação de carga atinja 22 milhões de toneladas por ano.
Já Alexandre Pereira, representante da Vale, afirmou que o projecto, além de permitir o escoamento de mais carvão da sua empresa, beneficia as comunidades locais com o transporte de pessoas e de bens.
O CLN é uma via a ter em conta para quem pretende levar produtos (produtos e bens de consumo) a preços acessíveis para o interior do país e para os países vizinhos.
