Vou continuar o trabalho que já vinha sendo desenvolvido pela gestão anterior dando enfoque na relação com os clientes, porque nos últimos anos, as exigências destes têm aumentado, o que intensifica a nossa pressão em prestarmos um melhor atendimento. Os consumidores de hoje esperam que as empresas lhes proporcionem experiências excepcionais de forma consistente.
O atendimento ao cliente é, actualmente, o melhor investimento porque melhora a reputação da marca, e facilita a adopção de novos produtos ou procedimentos pelos clientes.
A TmCel divulgou a sua intenção de fazer os testes para o lançamento da tecnologia 5G, em Junho do ano passado. Quando é que a Vodacom irá lançar a tecnologia 5G para os seus clientes?
A rede 5G, sendo a geração de conexões de ‘Internet’ móveis com maior alcance e velocidade é, sem dúvida, um serviço muito esperado em Moçambique. Porém, não se trata de uma competição sobre quem traz o serviço mais rapidamente. Trata-se de lançar este serviço de forma responsável e garantir que quem sai vencedor são os consumidores. Há inúmeras vantagens associadas ao 5G, nomeadamente, um melhor tempo de processamento de ‘downloads’ e ‘uploads’, uma maior velocidade na transferência de dados por segundo e uma economia de até 90% no consumo de energia dos aparelhos. Para além disso, o 5G permite ainda a possibilidade de estudos e trabalho remoto com maior qualidade nas videoconferências, acesso à medicina à distância, melhoria da mobilidade urbana e desenvolvimento de cidades inteligentes, que por sinal já iniciámos na província de Manica, no município de Chimoio. Esta urbe já está a fazer uso das soluções IoT da Vodacom, a chamada ‘Internet das Coisas’, para garantir uma gestão sustentável e em tempo real de activos e, deste modo, optimizar diversas operações nos diferentes serviços, tais como o controlo de activos e tráfego, sistemas de vigilância e alerta para segurança civil com inteligência artificial, sistemas digitais de estacionamento, monitoria de transportes públicos, através de um sistema de câmaras de vigilância; botões de pânico em estabelecimentos e residências, entre outras soluções.
Neste momento, estamos a preparar tudo a nível técnico para fazer um ‘Proof of Concept’ do 5G, onde poderemos analisar como materializar o projecto.
De acordo com o “Relatório de Aferição de Qualidade de Serviço Prestada pelos Operadores Móveis” do INCM, nenhum dos operadores móveis cumpre com o tempo de estabelecimento das chamadas. Que comentário gostaria de fazer a esse propósito? E o que têm feito no sentido de melhorar?
Este Indicador de Qualidade de serviço é, sem dúvida, importante. A principal razão deste tempo elevado no estabelecimento de chamadas deve-se ao facto de na tecnologia de 4G as chamadas na realidade serem efectuadas através de rede 3G e, esta transição, causa um tempo extra no estabelecimento da mesma. Nós acreditamos que os nossos tempos estão dentro do padrão para este tipo de cenário (que hoje em dia é presenciado na maioria da nossa rede), e iremos trabalhar junto ao Regulador para rever os padrões existentes, visto que estes excluem o tempo de transição entre a rede 4G e 3G.
O mesmo Relatório revela que o nível do sinal vai diminuindo à medida que se vai evoluindo para as tecnologias 3G e 4G, chegando a atingir níveis de cobertura inexistente quando saímos das cidades. Não será essa situação grave, uma vez que afecta os utilizadores da Vodacom?
Nós como Vodacom, trabalhamos continuamente para encontrar soluções que possamos usar de modo a expandir a nossa cobertura para zonas remotas. No caso da rede 4G nós temos, neste momento, sensivelmente a mesma cobertura que a rede 3G e iremos superar essa cobertura até ao final do ano de 2022.
Uma das plataformas que a Vodacom implementou foi o M-Pesa que tem vindo a melhorar o leque de serviços de pagamento via celular. Como se espera que essa plataforma contribua ainda mais para evitar a circulação de dinheiro vivo, mesmo entre organizações?
O M-Pesa é uma plataforma que começou há 15 anos no Quénia, com uma visão de levar serviços bancários a comunidades remotas e agora evoluiu para o maior provedor de tecnologia financeira de África, permitindo que os clientes realizem transacções – enviar e receber dinheiro, fazer pagamentos, economizar e acessar ao crédito – convenientemente — usando os seus telefones celulares.
Diariamente, nos sete países em que opera, o M-Pesa processa mais de 61 milhões de transacções para mais de 51 milhões de clientes e 465.000 empresas. Em Moçambique, temos aproximadamente 5.3 milhões clientes activos, 10.000 pequenas, médias e micro empresas que transaccionam usando a plataforma do M-Pesa mensalmente e realizamos aproximadamente 132 milhões de transacções numa base mensal.
Desta forma, fica patente que o M-Pesa é uma das plataformas que mais tem contribuído para a digitalização do dinheiro e assim como a inclusão financeira. A moeda electrónica no geral, tem desempenhado um papel significativo no alargamento da prestação de serviços financeiros à população não ‘bancarizada’ com cerca de 66% dos adultos a possuírem uma conta de moeda electrónica.
Para além das transacções-padrão, temos criado várias parcerias com a banca formal e, ainda, introduzimos nos últimos tempos, vários serviços para pagamento em instituições do sector público e privado tais como INSS, Registo Criminal, AT, Conselho Municipal de Mocuba; Revimo, Impar Seguros, entre outras.
Recentemente, lançámos o segmento M-Pesa Business que oferece às empresas serviços desenhados à medida do seu negócio para colectas, pagamentos e desembolsos em massa, como também, serviços de Open API para servir os clientes que queiram receber e pagar ‘online’. O M-Pesa compromete-se a continuar a trazer mais serviços inovadores e a continuar a trabalhar arduamente para ampliar esta plataforma com o propósito de fazer crescer Moçambique ligando os moçambicanos e fazer com que seja possível pagar com M-Pesa em todo o lado, como forma de contribuir assim para a redução da circulação de dinheiro vivo e para o aumento da inclusão financeira.

Em 2008, o Grupo Vodafone adquiriu uma participação no Grupo Vodacom, e concordou em fazer da Vodacom o seu veículo de investimento exclusivo na África Subsaariana, sendo que já detinha na altura directamente participação em alguns países como o Egipto e o Gana. Em mercados como é o caso de Moçambique, o accionista continua a ser a Vodacom, sendo a participação da Vodafone indirecta através do Grupo como referido. Apesar de ter havido uma mudança para uma nova imagem (designadamente da cor que passou do azul para o vermelho), não houve necessidade de mudar o nome da empresa.
Quais são os planos de expansão e que novidades se espera da Vodacom Moçambique para os próximos 3 anos?
Há muitos objectivos a serem atingidos, alguns dos quais já foram iniciados. Estamos focados não só em projectos de expansão e actualização tecnológica, mas também em projectos ligados ao Investimento Social.
Em 2022 continuaremos a expandir a nossa rede 4G para cerca de 400 estações onde actualmente esta tecnologia não está disponível, consolidando o nosso posicionamento como a operadora com mais estações 4G em Moçambique.
Até ao final do ano 2022, pretendemos activar cerca de 600 mil smartphones. Acelerar o nosso apoio ao Governo nas áreas da Educação e da Saúde é uma das nossas prioridades. Vamos continuar com o processo de inclusão digital nas escolas do país e avançar para conectar algumas unidades sanitárias à Internet, e ainda oferecer serviços gratuitos de saúde através da nossa rede, o que aliás já fazemos através do serviço “Meu Bebé e Eu”. A nossa parceria com a Engie mantém-se de pé para continuarmos a ajudar a providenciar painéis solares em comunidades recônditas. Vamos colocar um USSD ao dispor e SMS’s gratuitas para que a Engie possa dar suporte às comunidades que compram os painéis solares.
Estes são apenas alguns dos projectos já aprovados e temos outros ainda em fase de análise. O objectivo é não só focar na continuidade operacional da Vodacom e na sua rentabilidade, mas também contribuir para o desenvolvimento da sociedade moçambicana.
Em relação à expansão da rede, qual o grande desafio que a Vodacom tem enfrentado?
Um dos grandes desafios da Vodacom sempre foi a expansão da cobertura da rede para as zonas rurais. As vias de acesso precárias e a insuficiente cobertura eléctrica, bem como os elevados custos logísticos não só para a instalação, como para a operação e a manutenção das infraestruturas de telecomunicações, tornam a cobertura das zonas rurais onerosa.
Neste contexto, a Vodacom abraçou o projecto Google Loon, desenvolvido pelo Google, na tentativa de alcançar a expansão em larga escala, mas de uma forma sustentável. O projecto consistia em fornecer acesso à Internet para as áreas rurais remotas utilizando balões de alta altitude colocados na estratosfera, a uma altitude de cerca de 20 km, para criar uma rede sem fio com uma velocidade semelhante ao 3G das redes de telefonia móvel.
Infelizmente, em Janeiro de 2021, o Google anunciou o cancelamento do projecto, alegando questões de viabilidade comercial.
Todavia, porque a cobertura para as zonas rurais continua no centro dos nossos objectivos, decidimos efectuar algumas alterações no modelo de estações tradicionais que temos construído, por forma a reduzir os custos e, sendo assim, até Março de 2023 temos planeada a instalação de 200 novas estações rurais, distribuídas pelas diversas províncias. Estas serão completamente alimentadas por energia solar, o que, por sua vez, revela o nosso compromisso em, cada vez mais, adoptarmos energias renováveis nas nossas soluções.
