Moçambique atribui concessão de exploração de grafite por 25 anos à Triton Minerals
A área denominada “Cobra Plains” tem recursos minerais estimados em 103 milhões de toneladas, a um grau médio de 5,2% de concentração de grafite total (tgc), contendo 5,7 milhões de toneladas de carbono grafítico.
Esta atribuição leva a TON a deter dois projectos de exploração de grafite de elevada qualidade a nível mundial. Entretanto, segundo o Jornal Notícias, a licença que detinha igualmente em Cabo Delgado, na exploração de “Nicanda Hill”, o governo decidiu reservar para concurso público.
A empresa diz estar a encetar esforços junto do Governo para renovar a licença de exploração de “Nicanda Hill.”
Com isto, a mina de Ancuabe é apontada pela TON como a principal da empresa. Em 2019 a empresa assinou um memorando com a chinesa Quingdao Jinhui Grafite para processamento do minério.
A mina deverá entrar em funcionamento ainda este ano, para produzir 60.000 toneladas anuais de concentrado de grafite, ao longo de 27 anos.
