O Camões – Centro Cultural Português em Maputo vai acolher, durante cerca de um mês, a exposição “World Press Cartoon 2018. Os Melhores Cartoons do Ano”. A exposição foi inaugurada no passado dia 25 de Julho, tendo contado com a presença de Rui Paulo da Cruz, director e responsável pela comunicação e relações internacionais do World Press Cartoon.
Em exibição vão estar 80 cartoons de autores de mais de 30 países dos diferentes continentes que poderão ser visitados até ao dia 23 de Agosto, numa iniciativa que conta com o apoio do Millennium bim, tratando-se de um dos maiores e mais prestigiados concursos de desenho animado da imprensa mundial.
As publicações são seleccionadas por um júri internacional que escolhe os melhores cartoons entre centenas de obras apresentadas a concurso no World Press Cartoon. Os desenhos compõem um olhar sarcástico e humorado do mundo, debruçando-se sobre temas e protagonistas da actualidade.
O cartoon “Liberdade de Expressão”, da autora italiana Marilena Nardi, que em 2018 foi distinguido com o Grand Prix, primeiro prémio na categoria Cartoon Editorial, vai integrar esta exposição em Moçambique. Nardi foi a primeira mulher a receber um Grand Prix do World Press Cartoon.
João Pignatelli, Director do Centro Cultural Português que acolhe esta edição do World Press Cartoon refere “estamos muitos satisfeitos por ter conseguido trazer esta importante exposição a Moçambique, que tanto sucesso tem feito em outros países” e acrescenta sobre esta iniciativa “nesta mostra que aqui acolhemos estarão representadas caricaturas, cartoons e desenhos que fizeram parte da história de um ano, são olhares de diferentes culturas em que os cartoonistas retratam com humor a realidade do dia-a-dia do Mundo”.
De acordo com Rui Fonseca, PCA do Millennium bim, “É arte que transporta muito talento. A arte não tem fronteira, a cultura não tem fronteiras e por isso é um privilégio ter o mundo inteiro exposto aqui. É um privilégio do Millennium bim poder apoiar o World Press Cartoon e ter abraçado esta iniciativa”.
Rui Paulo da Cruz, Director e responsável pela comunicação e relações internacionais do World Press Cartoon, considera que “é uma oportunidade para observar em detalhe obras de elevada qualidade gráfica, através das quais autores de diversas culturas observam e criticam os temas e os protagonistas da actualidade, com caricaturas para todos os gostos”.
Paralelamente à exposição, Rui Paulo da Cruz irá dinamizar, no dia 26 de Julho, às 16h00, uma conferência seguida de debate intitulada “Cartoons contra a Monotonia”. O objectivo é debater o papel do cartoon na imprensa e a sua importância na defesa da liberdade de expressão.
A exposição “World Press Cartoon 2018. Os Melhores Cartoons do Ano”, que conta também com o apoio do Meliã Maputo Sky, ficará patente até dia 23 de Agosto, de segunda a sexta-feira, entre as 11h00 e as 18h00, e terá entrada livre.
