A ´Corrida dos Mais Extraordinários`, que se realizou no dia 28 de Maio, contou com a participação de 35 atletas com necessidades especiais. A prova, inserida na 3ª Meia Maratona Internacional de Maputo, foi patrocinada pela Sociedade de Desenvolvimento do Porto de Maputo (MPDC).
Crianças e jovens com necessidades especiais como o autismo e a síndrome de Down correram ao lado dos pais, encarregados de educação, professores ou simpatizantes da causa pela inclusão, mostrando que são capazes de vencer desafios, nomeadamente no desporto.
Alston Massinga e Sandra Malunga, que frequentam o Centro de Educação e Reabilitação de Cidadãos Inadaptados (CERCI), foram os grandes vencedores da prova, respetivamente nas categorias masculino e feminino.
Numa corrida onde todos foram campeões, participaram ainda crianças e jovens da Escola Portuguesa de Moçambique, da Woodrose International/Fundação Archer Sarmento e alguns atletas integrantes do projecto ‘Porto +’, uma iniciativa de emprego inclusivo promovida pelo Porto de Maputo e que deu já emprego a 18 pessoas com diversos tipos de deficiência.
A ´Corrida dos Mais Extraordinários` é uma iniciativa pioneira que teve como objectivo promover a inclusão social das pessoas com necessidades especiais através da visibilidade e do mediatismo de que dispõe a Meia Maratona Internacional de Maputo, tida como a principal prova de atletismo no país.
O Porto de Maputo tem vindo a apoiar causas ligadas à inclusão social desde 2011, estando na vanguarda de vários projectos como ‘Porto +’. O Porto de Maputo pretende, desta forma, “normalizar” a deficiência, causando impacto em toda a sociedade, estimulando mais empresas a seguir este exemplo de inclusão laboral.
O Porto de Maputo posiciona-se assim como “Um Porto feito de Extraordinários”, lema que orienta a campanha dos 20 anos que organização está a celebrar este ano.
