Grupo The Navigator Company regista imparidade devido a projecto em Moçambique
O grupo The Navigator Company levou a contas uma imparidade de 6,7 milhões de euros e registou uma provisão adicional de 12 milhões de euros no exercício de 2018 devido ao projecto em Moçambique, informou o grupo português.A imparidade diz respeito ao “justo valor” dos activos biológicos implantados na Zambézia e a provisão afigurou-se como necessária devido à situação em que se encontra o projecto florestal para a produção de estilha de madeira de eucalipto para exportação.O documento com os resultados do exercício de 2018 recorda ter a subsidiária Portucel Moçambique e o governo de Moçambique assinado em 9 de Julho de 2018 um memorando de entendimento sobre a reformulação do projecto de investimento, que passaria a desenvolver-se em duas fases.Numa primeira fase seria criada uma base florestal de cerca de 40.000 hectares, para o abastecimento de uma unidade (a construir) de produção de estilha de madeira de eucalipto para exportação, de cerca de um milhão de toneladas por ano, num investimento global estimado de 140 milhões de dólares.Da assinatura do memorando de entendimento resultou a constituição de uma equipa conjunta para assegurar o cumprimento das condições precedentes necessárias para avançar com o investimento, onde se inclui o estabelecimento das infra-estruturas logísticas necessárias à exportação de estilha.“A primeira fase do projecto está assim condicionada à boa resolução das condições precedentes identificadas no memorando de entendimento assinado com o Governo de Moçambique, o que, até à data, não se verificou”, pode ler-se no documento.A Portucel Moçambique é uma empresa de direito moçambicano constituída em 2009 que ainda nesse ano recebeu do Conselho de Ministros de Moçambique, por um período de 50 anos renováveis, o Direito de Uso e Aproveitamento de Terra (DUAT) de 173 mil hectares na província da Zambézia e de 183 mil hectares na província de Manica.
