Empresas estatais de Moçambique e África do Sul aumentam participação no gasoduto ROMPCO
As empresas estatais de energia da África do Sul e de Moçambique exerceram os seus direitos de compra dos 30% de participação no gasoduto ROMPCO, que a Sasol está a vender, reporta a Reuters.
Criado em 2004, o gasoduto ROMPCO transporta gás de Pande e Temane, na província moçambicana de Inhambane, até a África do Sul.
A empresa petroquímica Sasol disse, no mês passado, que estava a vender a participação no gasoduto ROMPCO de Moçambique para a África do Sul a um consórcio de investidores, incluindo o Reatile Group por um montante inicial equivalente a 293 milhões de dólares.
Segundo reporta a Reuters, o negócio estava sujeito a direitos de preferência sobre as acções detidas pelos actuais acionistas iGAS, subsidiária do Fundo Central de Energia da África do Sul, e a Companhia Moçambicana de Gasoduto (CMG), subsidiária da Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos de Moçambique.
O iGAS e o CMG agora aumentarão as suas participações na ROMPCO para 40% cada, ante o seu nível actual de 25%. A Sasol, que tenta se desfazer de activos para pagar dívidas, vai reduzir a sua participação de 50% para 20%.
A transacção será totalmente financiada com dividendos passados e futuros gerados pelo gasoduto de 865 quilómetros, disseram o Fundo Central de Energia e a Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) num comunicado conjunto.
“Ter os dois governos como accionistas maioritários do gasoduto transfronteiriço é estratégico, uma vez que o gasoduto é a única fonte de gás para o mercado sul-africano”, disse o presidente-executivo da ENH, Estêvão Pale.
A Sasol confirmou que “recebeu notificações de direitos de preferência e agora analisará as notificações. Acreditamos que os parceiros bem-sucedidos agregarão valor significativo a este importante activo de energia regional.”
