Access Bank junta-se à Repensar em movimento solidário para as vítimas das cheias
O Access Bank Mozambique doou, na sexta-feira, dia 27, alimentos e outros bens de primeira necessidade às vítimas das cheias que assolam a região sul do país, particularmente o distrito de Boane, onde as inundações chegaram a interromper vias de acesso, deixando várias famílias isoladas.
O apoio surge em resposta ao drama humanitário que se vive, nos últimos dias, em alguns bairros dos arredores da capital do país e em vários distritos da província de Maputo, caracterizado por chuvas intensas, inundações em extensas áreas habitacionais e de cultivo, corte de vias de comunicação, destruição de infra-estruturas económicas e sociais.
O Banco canalizou, para a população de Boane, fraldas, leite em pó, água, purificador de água, entre outros. Juntaram-se a esta iniciativa os colaboradores do Access Bank Mozambique, oferecendo vestuário, calçado, cobertores e alimentos não perecíveis.
A entrega simbólica dos donativos decorreu na sede da Cooperativa de Educação Ambiental Repensar, um dos mobilizadores de apoio para as vítimas das cheias, na região, sendo responsável pela distribuição dos produtos recolhidos às comunidades das regiões afectadas naquele distrito.
O Administrador Delegado do Access Bank, Marco Abalroado, disse que este acto solidário “visa ressaltar a esperança de dias melhores para os afectados e levar algum conforto a estas pessoas, neste momento difícil”. “Faz parte da nossa cultura a promoção do altruísmo, em actos de cidadania e conexão social, que não nos permitem estarmos indiferentes a esta emergência humanitária”, disse o mesmo responsável.
Moçambique está em estado de alerta vermelho, face à ocorrência de chuvas e à aproximação do ciclone tropical Freddy. Dados oficiais recentes indicam que as chuvas e as descargas de água na África do Sul e Eswatini mataram sete pessoas em Maputo e afectaram 49 mil famílias. A situação forçou a abertura de 12 centros de acomodação, estando em curso o levantamento dos estragos e o resgate da população isolada.
