O Access Bank Mozambique, em parceria com a REPENSAR – Cooperativa de Educação Ambiental, realizou, durante o mês de Março, várias acções de limpeza nas cidades de Maputo, Beira e Chimoio.
A iniciativa teve lugar nas praias da Miramar, em Maputo, e do Estoril, na Beira. No Chimoio, a acção de limpeza decorreu ao longo da Av. 25 de Setembro. Esta actividade incluiu, ainda, a plantação de 43 mudas de mangais e 56 de casuarinas nas referidas praias, e contou com a participação de colaboradores do Banco e de activistas da REPENSAR.
Ao todo, foram recolhidos 87 quilos de lixo reciclável, dos quais 48 kg são de vidro e 39 kg são de garrafas e tampinhas de plástico. Foram ainda apanhados 32 sacos de lixo comum.
A acção enquadra-se no plano de acções que o Banco está a implementar ao longo do ano em curso, enquanto instituição ambientalmente responsável, reforçando a sua preocupação com a conservação do meio ambiente.
A iniciativa visou, igualmente, consciencializar a população sobre a importância da limpeza, tanto em locais públicos, como em lugares privados, e incentivar o uso responsável das praias.
A parceria com a REPENSAR surge no âmbito do movimento Let´s do it, liderado pelo ambientalista Carlos Serra. Trata-se de uma organização vocacionada para acções de educação ambiental e sustentabilidade, criada com o objectivo de contribuir para a educação ambiental de jovens, crianças e comunidades.
Para Bruno Gaspar, Director de Comunicação Corporativa no Access Bank, “investir no ambiente é investir no futuro”. “Queremos incutir, sobretudo, nos mais novos, a sensibilidade em relação ao meio ambiente. Se os mais pequenos notarem que uma garrafa na areia da praia pode colocar em risco a sua própria saúde, então veremos no futuro adultos com cada vez mais consciência dos malefícios do lixo para o ambiente”. A acção de limpeza de praias e ruas irá ser replicada no distrito de Marracuene e nas restantes províncias onde o Banco está presente, nomeadamente, em Tete e Nampula (cidades de Nampula e Nacala).
