A nova unidade de produção de cimento no distrito de Matutuíne, província de Maputo, entrou em funcionamento no último sábado dia 2 de Janeiro de 2021, informa o Noticias.
Batizada de Dugongo Cimentos (Sinoma MDC), a nova fábrica representa um investimento de cerca de US $ 330 milhões.
As operações, em caráter de teste, estavam inicialmente programadas para novembro, mas devido à impossibilidade de voar para o país os técnicos chineses responsáveis pela montagem das peças-chave da usina, a obra foi remarcada para dezembro.
O vice-diretor-geral Isaac Sá disse ao Noticias que a fase de testes durará um mês e meio, com o início oficial da produção previsto para fevereiro.
Na fase de testes, a fábrica vai produzir 2.000 toneladas de cimento por dia, subindo nos próximos três a seis meses para capacidade instalada máxima de 5.000 toneladas por dia.
A chegada de técnicos chineses permitiu a conclusão das obras da usina e a montagem dos fornos.
“Durante este período, conseguimos obter os documentos que permitiram aos nossos técnicos (chineses) chegarem e permanecerem em Moçambique, de forma a poderem montar as peças para o início dos testes que tínhamos planeado,” disse Isaac Sá, acrescentando que o trabalho geral agora estava concluído.
A entrada em operação da nova fábrica de cimento é vista, tanto pela comunidade local quanto pelo governo, como uma oportunidade para aumentar a oferta de cimento e combater a alta dos preços do mercado.
A fábrica tem uma capacidade de produção de 1,8 milhões de toneladas por ano, empregando 500 trabalhadores, dos quais 400 serão moçambicanos.
A fábrica de Matutuíne, ao contrário de outras, vai utilizar clínquer por si própria, matéria-prima que actualmente é importada de vários países, mas que passou a fornecer também a outras unidades de produção de cimento em Moçambique. Isso potencialmente não só economizará divisas, mas também reduzirá os custos de produção, com ganhos para o consumidor final.
