A petrolífera norte-americana ExxonMobil mantém o seu compromisso de investir no projecto de gás natural liquefeito (GNL) na Área 4 da bacia do Rovuma, província de Cabo Delgado, no norte do país.
O compromisso foi assumido num encontro realizado na última quinta-feira, entre a liderança daquela multinacional e o Presidente da República, Filipe Nyusi,
“Tivemos um jantar de trabalho com a ExxonMobil para compreendermos precisamente qual é a evolução e eles tirarem dúvidas sobre a situação em Cabo Delgado. O problema (da petrolífera) é quando é que retomam (os trabalhos), e temos estado a trabalhar neste sentido. A empresa avaliou os sucessos com muita satisfação”, disse Nyusi, citado pelo diário económico.
Em Julho, o vice-presidente sénior da ExxonMobil Upstream Oil and Gas, Peter Clarke, informou, numa conferência em Vancouver, Canadá, que o projecto de exportação de gás natural liquefeito (GNL) do Rovuma, em Moçambique, está no bom caminho para obter a aprovação final em 2025.
“Muito depende da situação de segurança, que tem sido muito bem gerida. O Governo local está a fazer um bom trabalho e esperamos ver mais notícias positivas a esse respeito até ao final do ano”, disse Clarke, citado pela Bloomberg.
Em Moçambique, sobretudo na Área 4 (operada pela Mozambique Rovuma Venture), a ExxonMobil detém uma participação de 35,7% no contrato de concessão.
