“Precisamos de investir na mecanização agrícola, em sistemas de irrigação, infraestruturas de conservação e armazenamento, como silos e armazéns especializados, e agroindústrias. Na mesma senda, temos listadas como prioritárias a construção de infraestruturas e sistemas de gestão de logística, com a criação de uma rede de distribuição e implantação de uma cadeia de frio de hortícolas e frutas”, disse o gestor.
Acrescentou a necessidade de investimentos na modernização, através da massificação do uso de internet e banca electrónica, bem como os meios de pagamento relacionados, além do estabelecimento de parcerias com entidades que ofereçam soluções de partilha de risco, incluindo o seguro agrícola.
“Isto vai facilitar o desenvolvimento de cadeias de valor agrárias para exportação e substituição de importações de produtos como soja, milho, arroz, trigo, frango, carne bovina, frutas e hortícolas”, afirmou.
Por seu turno, a Alta Comissária do Reino Unido para Moçambique, Sua Excelência NneNne Iwuji, sublinhou que as potencialidades de Manica abrem espaço para acções de fortalecimento da economia e garantiu que o seu país vai continuar a identificar mais oportunidades para investimento na província e em Moçambique, numa perspectiva de longo prazo.
“Se a agricultura é a principal fonte de rendimento para as nossas comunidades, a capacidade de transformar esta produção em produtos mais valiosos para exportação é um passo crucial. E o Reino Unido possui os conhecimentos, as tecnologias necessárias e a vontade de trabalhar com Moçambique no sentido de fazer crescer ainda mais este sector”, disse.
